Description:

For the Spoonflower Endangered Species challenge, I wanted to think about some of the less visible endangered species on the planet.

While not as compelling as rhinos or polar bears, ocean corals are beautiful, varied, and important. These unique animals make up the coral reefs that are the foundation of healthy ocean ecosystems around the world. There are over 2500 species of corals in our oceans, and while only 22 species are listed as threatened and 3 as endangered, the collapse of reefs such as Australia's Great Barrier Reef is of great concern worldwide.
